4. How many schools and students would the proposed project/initiative impact?

Shawnee Mission has 28,201 students, and this initiative will impact all students in all settings and enhance nearly 50 schools' technology infrastructure. Although Shawnee Mission is the second largest school district in Kansas, the district is lagging behind most of the state with regard to access to technology. Due to a complex Kansas state funding formula for pupil spending, Shawnee Mission ranks in the bottom 10% of spending per pupil and declining enrollment has caused considerable strain on the district's budget. The district continually looks for creative ways to continue to provide students with quality education with meaningful impact. The district's schools are naturally clustered with elementary schools feeding into middle schools which in turn feed into high schools. Each of the clusters will share resources when needed.

High Schools (9101 students total) - Each of these schools will receive editing bays, digital cameras, digital camcorders, and appropriate ancillary supplies.

Elementary Schools (14,192 students total) - The twelve Title I Schools will each receive digital cameras. Each of the 23 remaining schools will share resources within their clusters
